LinkedIn is the obvious starting point for any job search in Germany. But if it is the only place you are looking, you are competing with thousands of applicants for the same roles and missing opportunities listed elsewhere.
Germany has a strong ecosystem of local and niche job platforms that many international candidates never discover. Here are eight worth bookmarking.
A note before you start: the platforms listed here have been selected based on our own editorial research into job boards that serve international candidates in Germany effectively. This is not a sponsored post, and none of these platforms have paid for inclusion. We have no commercial relationship with any of them. These are platforms we would genuinely point a friend towards.
1. Arbeitnow
Built specifically for expats and international candidates. Every listing shows whether the role includes visa support, relocation assistance, and salary transparency. One of the most useful platforms for non-EU candidates looking to apply in Germany. arbeitnow.com
2. BerlinStartupJobs
Focused on Berlin’s startup ecosystem, with a growing number of remote and hybrid roles across Germany. Most companies here operate in English and actively hire from outside Germany. berlinstartupjobs.com
3. WeAreDevelopers
A tech-first platform with strong coverage across Germany and Europe. Many listings explicitly mention English-language teams and relocation support. Good for software engineering, product, and data roles. wearedevelopers.com
4. Wellfound (formerly AngelList Talent)
Strong for startup roles, with a growing number of German and European listings in tech and product. Profiles here are informal and recruiter-friendly. wellfound.com/location/germany
5. Glassdoor Germany
Beyond salary reviews, Glassdoor’s job section has solid coverage of mid-to-large companies. Filter by language, and read interview experience reports from other candidates before applying. They are often more useful than the job description itself.
6. StepStone
One of Germany’s largest job boards. It skews towards German-language listings, but you can filter for English-language roles. Particularly useful for established companies and Mittelstand employers. stepstone.de
7. XING
Germany’s professional network, functionally similar to LinkedIn. Many German HR teams and recruiters are more active on XING than on LinkedIn. Having a complete profile here increases your visibility with German-based hiring managers, even if you never actively search on the platform.
8. Company Career Pages Directly
This one is underrated. Many companies post roles on their own website before aggregators pick them up. Applying early gives you a real advantage. Build a shortlist of 20 to 30 target companies and check their careers page once a week. It takes about ten minutes and consistently turns up opportunities others miss.
How to Get More Out of These Platforms
- Set up job alerts on each platform so new listings reach you automatically rather than requiring daily manual checks.
- Search with English-language keywords. Typing “Product Manager” rather than “Produktmanager” surfaces English-language roles much faster across every platform.
- Apply within the first few days of a listing going live. Early applications consistently receive more attention from German recruiters.
- Use a tailored resume for each application. A five-minute adjustment to your bullet points and summary for each listing is almost always worth it.
The job market in Germany is competitive. Using more of these platforms increases the number of opportunities you see, and that is the simplest way to improve your results.
